I delight in watching God work, seeing all the pieces fit together and realizing only God could do this. Yet, many times I miss Him in the midst of the chaos. Until something bursts to the surface and I understand…
that was You, God … that’s what You were doing all along!
FORGET WHAT HAPPENED LONG AGO!
DON’T THINK ABOUT THE PAST.
I AM CREATING SOMETHING NEW.
THERE IT IS! DO YOU SEE IT?
ISAIAH 43:18-19 (CEV)
Refinement
A few years ago, I went through an unusual time of refinement. Unusual because I was completely unaware of it at the time. I thought it was the usual chaos of my life. But God had decided it was time for some healing in my heart. As crazy as it sounds, I didn’t have a clue I even needed healing. But I’m so thankful God loves me too much to ignore my open wounds, and that He is big enough, and kind enough, to heal them, even my own self-inflicted wounds.
for it is God who works in you
to will and to act
in order to fulfill his good purpose.
Philippians 2:13 (NIV)
Moving Forward
God doesn’t intend to stop at the point of healing. That is not our destination. Our healed heart has a greater purpose. He never wastes any experience, and will use all things, even our wounding, for His glory. The healing is just the beginning of the journey. We are each designed with unique strengths in personality, talents, and interests. Along with our God-created strengths, He uses our scars, our healed wounds … past, present and future … for His glory. He perfectly intertwines our past experiences with our strengths to create our unique perspective. It is here we find the opportunities God has prepared us for.
And I am certain that God,
who began the good work within you,
will continue his work until it is finally finished
on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
Philippians 1:6 (NLT)
in God’s Timing
You are right where you are supposed to be. In His infinite knowledge, God has placed you within a perfectly planned circle of influence. He knows who is about cross your path, He knows what they need, and He knows the experience and wisdom you have to offer. As He intentionally orchestrates your interactions, be bold and confident in sharing what God has done for you.
the time will come when I will
heal Jerusalem’s wounds
and give it prosperity and true peace.
Then this city will bring me
joy, glory, and honor
before all the nations of the earth!
The people of the world will see
all the good I do for my people,
and they will tremble with awe
at the peace and prosperity
I provide for them.
Jeremiah 33:6,9 (NLT)
Do you carry wounds?
- Ask God to begin His healing process by revealing those areas to you.
- Ask God to complete your healing in the perfect way only He can.
- Ask God to show you the purpose He has for your healed heart.
